The Bee Helpers - Bringing Bees and Communities Together for Bee and Environmental Sustainability.
That's why The Bee Helpers are ‘Doing it for the Bees’.
90% of wild plants and 75% of global food crops depend on bees and other pollinators. (WWF)
Honeybees are prolific pollinators. But less than 25% of honeybee swarms survive their first year. All Bees and other pollinators need our help. Our future food security depends on it. In simple terms, if there’s ‘No Bees there’s No Us’!
You can be a 'Bee Helper' just by planting bee and polinator friendly gardens and wildflower meadows. Creating bee highways with bee bombs (plant seed balls). Installing bee and bug hotels, Cutting grass less and providing a water source in summer. Also buying local honey and supporting our initiatives and events.
Organisations can be 'Bee Helpers' too. Funding and supporting our school and community projects and events and bee environmental sustainability initiatives. Not only help bees and the natural environment. They also bring local communities together and help improve the mental health and wellbeing of individuals.
Dedicated to increasing awareness of the major importance of Bees and other pollinators and what we can all do to help them.

The Bee Helpers are Richard, Rose, and Izaak Johnson
Given Bees and other pollinators are essential to all our futures. As a family, living in Narborough, Leicestershire, Richard, Rose and their son Izaak, wanted to do something that would directly help Bees and the environment. In December 2021 they set up 'The Bee Helpers', learnt about honeybees and got some training from their mentor David The Beefarmer. Then established their first apiary in Mountsorrel, Leicestershire. An ideal location for Bees that backs onto the River Soar and open countryside. We are very grateful to our partners, Steve and Lisa Pinsent of Wilfred Pinsent & Grandson, Independent off-licence and Tap Room for donating the site.
Bringing Bees and Business Together
To help Bees and fund apiary development, Richard and Rose hit on the idea of 'The Bee Helpers Environmental Bee Sustainability Life Cycle'. Drawing on Richard's background in HR, Organisational Development and Culture Change and Rose's background in Brand, Marketing, and Insight. They offer a range of innovative services to improve environmental credentials, employer brand, customer relationships and employee experience and skills. 'Doing it for the Bees' is Bee Centric
As humans, we all have our moments when we don't like to be disturbed and just want to be left alone to get on with things. The same goes for Honeybees. In practice 'doing it for the bees', means we have a bee centric approach to bee husbandry. This helps bee's get on and bee the best they can be. We find this is less stressful for both the Bees and for us. So, if the bees are busy 'beeing' and are not happy their home has been opened up for inspection, we'll leave them be and come back another day.
Helping honeybees can get expensive. But it does reap many rewards. When in the company of up to 50,000 bees might seem terrifying, but actually it is usually pretty magical, awe-inspiring and surprisingly, a great way to destress too.
Our efforts helping bees has rewarded us with some amazing tasting honey. After ensuring the Bees have plenty for themselves to get them through the winter, we offer a limited release of honey for sale. Any profits go back into developing our apiaries and helping more bees.
Creating sustainable apiary environments for honeybees and other pollinators is expensive. We depend on the generosity of like-minded individuals and organisations that are as enthusiastic as we are about doing something practical to directly help bees, improve the natural environment and deal with the effects of climate change.
Individuals and organisations who let us use their land and provide funding to develop our apiaries are mission critical. We are very grateful and thankful for their ongoing support.
